Digital Disruption - Vol 2
Where can I apply for a Digital Citizenship?
Recently we got a question from some good friends about what nationality our kids feel - not about what nationality they have. That question made me think about my own nationality. Of course I am dane and I am very proud of this in (almost) all situations but what is it that make me belong to a nationality?
What does this has to do with Digital Disruption - a lot. Today I buy my products and services without thinking about where it comes from. The store I use is right in front of me and is borderless. Today my children can take education in any language and topic they like using digital platforms and collaboration - an exciting opportunity for the next generation coming from the digital disruption. At work I find myself talking and chatting more with people from other countries than my home country so what does the nationality mean to me and how does the (digital) communities I use and participate in shape me?
I think these digital communities will become an increasing part of shaping my identity and in 10 years I will maybe have digital passport giving me access to the Digital Citizenship??
In the corporate world I think technology is also changing the way collaboration inside the company is managed but also the external collaboration. Of course messaging tools etc is used a lot but what impact does introduction of more business process related tools have and do these implementation always reflect a coming change in the business or are they more an answer to a yesterday-problem.
Many companies will argue that implementation of solutions and technologies are a part of a strategy but in reality - how many board of directors ask the question - “That is a great strategy and how do we now support and drive it with solutions and technology?” But of course this has to be managed by the CIO but taking a quick look at the hot topics for the CIO it doesn't seem to be to business focused.
